Head Injury and Ataxia

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

From your description, your son has symptoms similar to those following a stroke, as his body and parts of the brain first affected. Over the past two decades, I have been with a powerful technique for physical rehabilitation to help patients suffering from stroke. There have been two successful clinical trials: the first was carried out at Hammersmith Hospital in 1996, with 12 elderly stroke patients under the supervision of a consultant geriatrician. Last year, with funding from a patient and the collaboration of the Peninsula Medical School based at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust, my brother and I launched a research project where we have reinstated, another group of 17 patients suffering from stroke.First, I suggest you work on the neck, such as the vertebral arteries located in the cervical spine irrigate the brainstem centers that control the vocal cords, the cerebellum, which controls the gait and posture, as well as other areas that need to be involved in such a complex case. He must first of all on your back with a pillow under his head. Both sides of the neck massage, using oil as a Back Massage Oil, or two tablespoons of sweet almond oil with three drops of essential oil of lavender. Wipe the muscles and tendons of the neck. Then you should turn so you can rub shoulders with both hands, squeezing then releasing the muscles. This will improve blood circulation. Initially, the muscles will be stiff and sore. As days pass, the muscles and ease this massage will facilitate better circulation of blood and cerebrospinal fluid that bathes the brain.Next you need to work on the right arm and hand. Seems to have already developed spasm of the muscles due to extreme brain damage. Massaging the biceps of the upper arm and outside of the flexor muscles running along the inside arm will help alleviate the risk of leaks and reduce total loss of use of his right hand. Massage the entire back and focus on the gluteal muscles on the right side, particularly the trigger point tender at the center of the right cheek. This can help bones the muscles involved in balance and posture.

Street Hypnosis - Getting Started

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

There’s a hot new activity that’s hitting the streets – literally. Called “Street Hypnosis,” this practice takes the idea of clinical hypnosis to a whole new hypnosyslevel. Contrary to clinical hypnosis, in street hypnosis, a hypnotist places a person into a rapid trance and has him or her execute amusing tasks, all for the entertainment of a crowd on the road or street passerby. Street Hypnosis is really not new; people have been engaging in such antics for years. Street hypnosis has been around since the 18th century when performing artists used the power of suggestion along the avenues to entertain the crowds. One could actually say that hypnosis would have died off centuries ago if performers had not preserved the art by practicing hypnosis as a performance tactic on the street. So how does one learn the art of in street hypnosis?A family member or good friend might not always be such a good candidate. They know you well and may have a hard time trusting that you’ll be able to hypnotize him or her. His or her confidence in your power is crucial in bringing about trance states. Because of this, a casual acquaintance is often a better subject than somebody really close to you.
Safety is an essential part of street hypnosis. Your subject should be protected from harm at all costs, and should never be required to try something that would injure them. The general rule is that if the demo could potentially hurt the individual even if they weren’t in trance, it should be avoided as it can possibly do the same harm in hypnosis.

The Danger of Not Eating Enough

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

When we think of eating disorders in America and the rising Obesity epidemic, we often fail to realize that while over eating is a major concern, so is not eating enough. People make extremely poor choices all of the time when it comes to food. Some would blame part of this on Hollywood, while others would still blame it on the fact that some people (especially women) are so obsessed with “looking good” that there is often no other alternative except to cut back on what they eat.

Our bodies need nutrition. If we don’t get the proper amount of nutrients through the foods that we eat, then our bodies begin to suffer. What do you think your brain runs off of? When you eat, the food is turned into energy that helps us maintain certain functions. If you cut back on eating the amount of food you should be consuming, you may realize subtle changes such as the inability to focus, trouble sleeping, increased irritability as well as loss of energy.

The true way to eat healthy is to make wise decisions when you go food shopping. Before you head to the grocery store, make a list of the things that you need. After you’re done making the list, look over it and read it out loud if you have to. Do you really need that package of soda? If you feel the need to have your soda fix, why not opt for sugar free and caffeine free instead? How about that bag of potato chips? You could probably just ditch it all together. However, if you feel that you must have potato chips, why not opt for potato chips that are baked and lightly salted versus the other brand? There are always healthy alternatives when you go shopping.

Some may complain that the reason they eat so unhealthy is because unhealthy food is more accessible and cheap. While this may be true, think about how much more money you’ll have to spend in the long run on doctors’ bills once it is discovered that you have high blood pressure and high cholesterol! Snacking on nothing is just as bad as snacking on things that aren’t good for you. As a general rule of thumb, if you stock your refrigerator and pantry with predominantly healthy foods and snacks, then you’re more likely to eat healthier. It just makes sense, doesn’t it? The next time you find yourself thinking about skipping that meal or opting for the fast food restaurant, stop yourself for a second and reflect on whether or not the decision you are about to make is good for you. A little thought can go a long way.

If you are still concerned about your diet, consider this. The fastest way to get in shape and stay that way is to combine a healthy diet with a moderate amount of exercise. If you’re not the exercising type, there are plenty of other groups out there that get together, which is something that is extremely encouraging. The funny thing of it all is that you burn calories more than you think. Therefore, a moderate amount of exercise (say about 30 minutes at least 5 days per week) is all you need!

I Am Depressed So I Eat

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

So often people get in a cycle of depression and eating for comfort and develop a food addiction. The cycle perpetuates the depression and eating and it goes around and around. Addiction happens and the individual is caught in the cycle of addiction long before they identify a problem with food. Many individuals would like to be able to say there were no warning signs of an eating disorder. Individuals in recovery refer to that rationalization as denial.

Addiction whether to food, alcohol or drugs develop over-time. As the disease progresses so does the behavior, the lie the person tells themselves is I can control this on my own I don’t need help. That is typically when the individual has crossed the line into the addiction and are unable to get out of the cycle. Food is a required means of energy used to fuel the body, when food is misused and turns against the person invariably the person blames the food, people around them, his or her job, spouse, family, friends anyone except themselves.

Typically the blame goes on until the person says enough and starts to recognize the only way out of the eating disorder cycle is through it. No one ever said it was going to be easy; the addiction process did not happen overnight and will not go away overnight. Finding an eating disorder treatment program to help the person overcome the addictive behavior patterns and to help them formulate a plan to live a life without using and abusing food is essential for the recovery process. After reading this article he or she feels motivated and ready to break free from the cycle of food addiction contact an eating disorder treatment program and begin the life intended.
